Free Born Sons

By Blake Higginbotham

I had a dream a few days ago where I found myself making a declaration concerning who we are in Messiah. The last words that came out of my mouth before I awoke was “I Am A Free Born Son.” As I meditated on what Holy Spirit was declaring out of my mouth, my heart began to hear and understand something clearly.

Firstly, I realized that I have always been a free born son. Freedom from religion and freedom to become a mature son have long since been two motivating factors in most of my life choices and decisions in Him.

Hebrews 2:10-18 For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, 12saying: “I will declare Your name (Yahweh) to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly “I will sing praise to You.” 13And again: “I will put My trust in Him.” And again: “Here am I and the children whom Yahweh has given Me.” 14Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham. 17Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to Yahweh, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted; He is able to aid those who are tempted.

Sanctified - G37 ἁγιάζω hagiazō hag-ee-ad'-zo - to make holy, that purify or consecrate;

Aid - G997 βοηθέω boētheō bo-ay-theh'-o - to aid or relieve: help, succour.

1 Corinthians 12:12-14 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Messiah. 13For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 14For the body is not one member, but many.

Vs. 18-20 But now hath Yahweh set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased Him. 19And if they were all one member, where were the body? 20But now are they many members, yet but one body.

Divine placement is the Father’s business and pleasure. Functioning and operating together as the body should be your business and pleasure. The scripture teaches that your gift will make room for you, and I believe that the anointing will fill that room with store. If you understood how important divine placement was, you would never get out of position again, and you certainly would not allow any one else to take your crown.

With that said we are still the weak, sick and suffering body of Messiah! However, I must confess, that makes me angry. After all that Yahshua has done, we are still tormented by a sin conscious, suffering savior mentality. It just does not seem fair. However, our response to ignorance, disobedience and rebellion should not be alienation, isolation and rejection.

Some people are making us all suffer because they refuse to repent and change. Others are making us all suffer because of disobedience and rebellion. What do you think that we should do about it?

Vs. 21-26 And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. 23And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, 24but our presentable parts have no need. But Yahweh composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, 25that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. 26And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

2 Timothy 2:8-13 Remember that Yahshua the Messiah of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: 9Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of Yahweh is not bound. 10Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Messiah Yahshua with eternal glory. 11It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 12If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 13If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

Hebrews 13:1-3 Let brotherly love continue. 2Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. 3Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

Galatians 3:26-29 For you are all sons of Yahweh through faith in Messiah Yahshua. 27For as many of you as were baptized into Messiah have put on Messiah. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Messiah Yahshua. 29And if you are Messiah’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Galatians 4:1-7 Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, 2but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father. 3Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world. 4But when the fullness of the time had come, Yahweh sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 6And because you are sons, Yahweh has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” 7Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of Yahweh through Messiah.

Galatians 4: 22-31 For, it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, the other by a freewoman. 23But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, (The American Church System) and he of the freewoman through promise, (The True Ekklesia) 24which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar 25for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children 26but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all. 27For it is written: “Rejoice, O barren, you who do not bear! Break forth and shout, you who are not in labor! For the desolate has many more children than she who has a husband.” 28Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise. (Free-Born Sons) 29But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now. 30Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.” 31So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free.

Faith Declaration:

• We are the children of promise, the covenant seed, the many-membered corporate man, and the house that Yahshua is building. Messiah in us is the Glory bringing hope to the world!

• We are the bright and morning star and the light of the world in Messiah, the King’s domain and New Jerusalem coming down!

• We are remembering who we were in creation, before formation and we are beginning to know as we are known. We are free-born sons!
